Now is the time to make sure your homeowners insurance is adequate.
Have you checked on your homeowners insurance recently? There was an article in the National Association of Realtor’s magazine called “Rebuilding Costs May Exceed Colorado Fire Victims’ Insurance.” As you’re probably aware, Colorado’s Marshall fire claimed around a thousand homes and destroyed businesses in the suburbs between Denver and Boulder. Most people probably had homeowners insurance, but in this market, was that insurance adequate?
If it’s been a while since you’ve updated your policy, maybe it’s time to have another look, especially with tornado season around the corner. According to a United Policyholder survey, about two-thirds of fire victims in the U.S are underinsured.
If you want an update on your home’s value, I would love to give you an analysis. You can then take that information to your insurance agent and make sure your coverage is adequate. That way, you can cover the rising building, labor, furniture, and appliance costs.
